A shared vision and guiding values for Seventeen Seventy's coastal hazard adaptation

6 April 2023

We're thrilled to have heard from more than 100 people on their thoughts, vision and values for protecting Seventeen Seventy from increased coastal hazards into the future. The high response rate through the Listening Post in February, Drop-In Session in March, as well as the online survey (now extended to 17 April) is testament to a community that cares deeply about adapting this unique part of the world to cope with rising sea levels, storm surges and erosion.

So far, we've heard...

The engagement has provided a rich context and good understanding of the community’s concerns and aspirations for Seventeen Seventy. At the first engagement event, we drafted a vision statement and set of core values which we then sense-checked with the community at the most recent engagement event in March.

The vision and values statement below is a direct result of this engagement and will help guide our overall adaptation planning for the area, along with technical studies and findings.
