Discovering more 1770 CARP feedback at the Discovery Coast Rotary Markets

18 April 2023

On Sunday, our project team setup a stall at the Discovery Coast Rotary Markets to gather further feedback on the Seventeen Seventy Coastal Adaptation and Resilience Plan (1770 CARP).

We had several interesting and valuable discussions with local community members and visitors to the Agnes Water/Seventeen Seventy area.

Special thanks to Discovery Coast Rotary for organising an amazing Sunday morning event.

So far, we've heard...

The engagement confirmed that our feedback from previous engagement events was on the right track as many of the comments received echo those already received.

The draft values and visions which were developed from feedback on the project so far were generally received positively by attendees. Several notes will be used to further refine these points to reflect the community's aspirations.

There was a particular focus on increasing accessibility to Seventeen Seventy by improving footpath connectivity in an effort to elevate ongoing traffic congestion. There were many ideas on improving the current footpath to encourage walkers, cyclists, scooters and other modes of transport to the area.

Next step

Our final engagement will be our 1770 CARP Community Workshop where our project team will presenting the feedback we've collected throughout the consultation period and how it will help to shape the final plan.

During this interactive workshop we will also taking a deep-dive into identified adaption options and discussing how we collectively can adapt to a future with increasing coastal hazards in a way that is true to the community's vision and values for Seventeen Seventy.
