Council is currently sponsoring 80 local hairdressers and barbers to access free online training in recognising the signs of domestic and family violence in clients.

If you are a hairdresser, barber, or beautician in the Gladstone Region, including mobile and home salons, you are eligible to participate in this online training that takes just one hour to complete at your own pace.

Hairdressers with Hearts acknowledges that hairdressers and barbers are in the frontline of the community, having intimate conversations with clients walking through their doors on a regular basis. The program trains participants following the recognise, respond, and refer principals and provides them with the tools to handle difficult conversations and practicing self-care, as well as an accreditation and merchandise for themselves and the salon.
